Untitled (Collective Blot) (ongoing)
  Untitled (Collective Blot)

These "paintings"--thirteen foot blots of ink--are hung in a room. Viewers are invited to add their interpretative text. The result is a kind of portrait of the collective unconscious of the group through the accumulated psychometric graffiti of participants.

0ther People's Memories (2007/2010/2011)
Other People's Memories: Participatory Drawings (NYC, 2007/Denton, Texas, 2010/ Maine, 2011)

In this site-specific work, people living in the place the exhibition is to take place make drawings that become the basis of the piece. I ask participants if they have any memories that are frozen in time, like a snapshot, and if they will draw this memory for me. Their drawings are enlarged, overlapped and retraced by hand to make the final installation.

Split/Doubles (2008-2009)
  Split/Doubles

These drawn portraits are hybrid faces inspired by a pictorial genealogy of a wealthy New England family. The single face is made up of two relatives (usually a binary in terms of sex or age). There is no "right side up".

A History of Things I Remember But Will Never See (2007)
A History of Things I Remember But Will Never See

These are portraits of people watching, painted from photographs of events in our recent historic memory. I wanted to bring into focus the shadowy faces at the edges of these iconic photos, this almost abstract record of witnesses to major historical events. The installation is a new crowd, looking at us looking at them.

Untitled Events (2005-2006)
  Untitled Events

I think a lot about this intricate string of little moments that make up our lives. We could freeze the moment at any point and the narrative of our lives could veer off in another direction. These paintings are about that moment.
