The Arctic Circle program, now in its twelfth year, is an annual expeditionary residency for scientists and artists who undertake research on a traditionally rigged Barquentine exploring the Svalbard Archipelago. My interest is in the Arctic as a double site of representation—imagined through both technoscientific and fantastical images—my research will mine the myth of the Open Polar Sea.
